College: Brooklyn College
Education Level: Senior
Career Interest: Data Analysis
My name is Zahra and I am a senior at Brooklyn College majoring in Mathematics. I chose my major because I liked to solve problems, critical thinking, engage with data/numbers, and to develop new skills using Math. It took long enough to decide what I wanted to study. During my High School period I wanted to study law back from my home country in Sri Lanka where I took the Law entrance exam which I didn’t pass. Then coming to America I developed passion in Math which led me to major at college. Nevertheless, I like to bake during my leisure time which helps to cope with stress and anxiety when I deal with college and work. Other things I like to do are watch anime, spend more time with family, travel, and try new food. Currently I am exploring and developing technical skills such as I started learning Python a year ago, and learning Java and R programming in my current semester. As for my career interest, my dream job is to become a Date Analyst, however, I am not fulfilling much of the necessary requirements such as the skill sets expected from an analyst. Thus, starting my first internship through a company like Unadat may assist me by developing necessary professional skills, technical skills, communication, leadership, work ethics, etc. This is also set forth to develop my personality, to learn who am I, sharpen my skills, make new connection with the industry, and identify what kind of career paths that is available for me.
