Jacob Hoffman

College: Northeastern University

Education Level: Bachelors

Career Interest: Data Analysis/Finance

I am a Northeastern Alumni, who worked with Unadat as part of my Entrepreneurial finance course in the summer between my Junior and Senior year. I love spending my time outside and recently I’ve been playing a lot of tennis.

What was your role?

I worked as part of a 4 person team of Northeastern students and we worked with Unadat to deliver a summary of our analysis on different business models and markets Unadat could target.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
We presented the project to our Entrepreneurial finance class and Sean/Dan. The report included several markets and models for Sean and Dan to explore through our analysis. Our team’s hope is that the report was valuable to Sean and Dan as they continue to build out Unadat.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
Communication is key. Always be willing to help someone out if you can but also be ready to ask for help if you need it.
What skills have you gained?
There were so many analytical methods that Sean introduced that i continue to use today and that have become invaluable to me. The project involved some analysis with excel and Sean walked us through different tools in excel we could use to get the results we were looking for so the added experience with excel was great for me and my career.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
Weren’t many/any roadblocks considering my team only worked with Unadat for a month or two on the one project. Though the tight deadlines made the whole team push to meet those.
How has company culture guided your work?
Sean and Dan both work extremely hard and set a great example during my time with our project, Sean in particular was very patient and gave us lots of time to learn things outside of the required aspects of the projects.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
As alluded to throughout the form, the ‘big project’ I worked on with the Northeastern team involved the entire team creating a report based on our analysis of different business models and market segments for Unadat. Over the course of several weeks we looked into various models and markets and analyzed how much of the market Unadat could capture and which models would be most effective.
What advice would you give to future interns?
Just more of a general advice and not Unadat specific, but go in with a very open mind willing to learn a lot in a short amount of time and push yourself to meet others and work on projects that interest you.
