My name is Luz. I am hopefully in my last year of Brooklyn College. I would say I am a very curious person. As someone who still is not too sure about what I want to do in the future or where I think I should be headed, I am always open to learning something new. Any form of job experience can be beneficial in the future.

What was your role?

I am helping design and change current features on the Unadat website.

What did you work on?

So far I helped change one of the features on the Account setting on the Set you debt budget section which is currently still being worked on

What was the impact of your project?

I think the biggest impact the project can make is the understanding that people using the website will have. Majority of what was done or changed is so that the users can have an easier time using the site.

What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?

I wouldn’t say that I picked up any new skills per say but I was able to improve and grow skills that I had past experiences and jobs. What I learned from my teammates is that we are all different and can learn at different paces. Sometimes we are assigned something and I might not know what exactly needs to be done but someone else from my team does. That is why communicating is important because you can ask more than one person to hopefully understand what needs to be done.

What skills have you gained?

I wouldn’t say that I picked up any new skills per say but I was able to improve and grow skills that I had past experiences and jobs.

What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?

I do not think there were many major roadblocks that I had to deal with. I think just one of the major ones is since we are working remotely, to not get distracted so easily because it is not the same as working in person.

How has company culture guided your work?

I wouldn't say it had guided much since I already was familiarized with the work culture.

What was your experience at Unadat?

Working at Unadat showed how quick-paced everything can get. My bosses throughout everything have been very communicative and verbal about the work that they expected. Although there were times that it got difficult, it was never overwhelming and it helped me do better. Overall this made my experience a useful and enjoyable one.

What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?

We were given the task to come up with new ideas for some of the landing pages on the Unadat website. The team was split and another coworker and I had to come up with ideas on what changes could be made. Using google slides we broke down every idea we had and explained what needed to be done and why. As we narrowed down everything we were able to come up with page examples to demonstrate to the other teams when they implement those changes.

What advice would you give to future interns?

Communicating is one of the most important things to do, especially when working in groups because everyone on the team has to do their part. Just make sure to keep updated with everything and everyone around you so that you also are a part of the project.
