What was your role?

My team worked on developing the new Chores feature.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
Chores should give children a sense of power and responsibility in terms of earning money for their work, as well as negotiating with their parents. This is strengthen the relationship of a parent and their child, and help the child become financially literate starting at a young age.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
I learned that my teammates are usually open for communication. Not everything has to be something you figure out on your own. Better yet, you teammates most likely have the solution to your problem, and you may only be delaying progress through poor communication.
What skills have you gained?
I`ve most improved my communication and collaboration skills on a team. I`ve also improved my web development knowledge through building and deploying our version of the Unadat website.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The most challenging part of me role as a software developer was understanding the existing codebase and being able to build on top of the existing code. As much time it took to implement the functionality of Chores, it took around the same time to understand how the website currently operated to be able to properly implement the features onto the website, without breaking it.
How has company culture guided your work?
Sean and Dan were usually available whenever our team needed help or guidance for the direction of our work.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
Our team`s project was building a new "Chores" feature for the Unadat website. Chores allows children to create fundraising stories with the addition of chores they can complete to earn the desired amount of money. The parent of the child would be notified of this request and can accept, reject, or counter the offer. Our goal was to build the basic functionality of this new feature, in which the company, or future interns, can further build upon.
What advice would you give to future interns?
Be prepared to collaborate with a team. Be open to different ideas and focus on the logic/functionality before the aesthetic.
