Haoyuan Wu

College: City College of New York

Education Level: Bachelors

Career Interest: Web Developer

I am a computer science student. I would describe myself as someone who is highly-motivated, and I particularly enjoy working as a part of a team. I want to work on large, important projects and challenge myself. I like to seek out learning opportunities and I’m not afraid to fail and struggle as a part of learning. I feel the tech industry is the best place to do this right now. In my last project, I was part of a group of 7 people and we communicated multiple times per day to work as a unit, and I also interacted frequently with other groups like Sales, Customer Service, and more. I enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

What was your role?

Primarily looking for bugs from the website and what we can improve on regarding user experience. Then fix the bugs and imporve the UI/UX for the users.

What did you work on?

We don’t have a actual project but instead we fix a lot of bugs and added some new features to the website.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
My teammates have very profound interests in web developing. When I encounter problems that I cannot solve, they always offer help to me. And I learned a lot technical skill of how to fix bugs from them.
What skills have you gained?
The exprience working at Unadat has gained me a lot of experience in debugging. I have been working to fix codes that causes faulty website pages. Now I am more careful with some spots and know where might the problem is when bad things happens.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
I have encountered a lot of roadblocks during this job when debugging. The biggest roadblock is fixing the dark mode of the website. We have to add all the classes to the file in order for them to change their color. But the bug we had was that some components are not changing their color while the class was added. It was a pain in the ass when we try to check every possiblity but everything looks fine but it is just not working. And luckily my teammates spotted that tiny mistake and we fixed that at the end.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company culture is very positive. It ensures that I remain satisfied with my jobs and work harder to acheive the goal. In this stronge culture, I feel valued. Whether it’s by working from home, choosing their projects or trying out a new role, employees that feel valued and can make decisions achieve a higher level of performance.
