College: Baruch College

Education Level: Sophomore

Career Interest: Cybersecurity Analyst

I am a rising Sophomore at CUNY Baruch College gradating in May 2025, studying Computer Information Systems with a focus in Cybersecurity. My goal is to become a Cybersecurity Analyst in the future after I graduate. I got interested Cybersecurity due to the colonial pipeline cyberattack because I feel like I want to help protect the company's data. In addition, I hope to take care of my parents and lessen their burden after I got a stable and good paying job. My hobbies are playing Video games made by Riot Games such as Valorant and League of Legends. While I'm Platinum IV in League of Legends, I'm still Bronze III in Valorant getting boosted to Silver by my friends. Another hobby that I enjoyed is watching streamers on Twitch like Loltyler1 because he is entertaining to say the least.

What was your role?

The Goals and Milestones checklist.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
I hope that my project had a positive impact on customers financial goals because they can use the functions of my goals checklist to see what they still need to do and what they are finished with. Furthermore, we improve the view checklist a pop-out so that they don’t have to move out of the main website, they can just click on the x button to get out of the checklist. In addition, they can add and delete stuff on the list, so we can address the difference challenges that our clients have.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
I learned a lot of soft skills from my teammates like how to speak to one another, delegating task, and asking for help. I also learned about their goals in life and what they would have done different if they were in my shoe. My teammates gave me life advices and told me to get as many internships as possible, but if you can’t find one do up-skilling instead.
What skills have you gained?
Some new skills that I picked up were CSS and Html because I`m still not super familiar with Javascript and PHP. In addition, I learned some soft skills like how to work productively and proactively with my teammates, how to present what we created so far to our supervisors, and summing up the courage to put roadblocks on Jira.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The biggest roadblocks that I encountered and I overcome is actually reporting the roadblocks to my teammates or to Daniel/Sean because I was afraid of looking like I’m not up to the challenge or capable enough to solve it on my own. In addition, I was also afraid of wasting Sean/Daniel precious time because I know they have a busy schedule. However, I was somehow able to go past that and the coding problems that took me like 2 hours to trying to fix it were fixed in like an hour thanks to my group mates.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company culture at Unadat helped guided my work because everybody seem really chill and laid back. Sean and Daniel aren’t micromanaging us and telling us that we have have this done by today or else. It relieves a lot of pressure off me and I feel comfortable working at my own pace without having to worry about approaching deadlines.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
The one big project that I worked on was making the goals and milestone checklist, I first used Html to make a list of what goals we needed to have on there. Then, I used CSS to make it look prettier and cleaner. Ethan then proceed to Unadat it, so it matches with the website itself.
What advice would you give to future interns?
My advice to the next crop of interns is to never be afraid of asking questions, be prepared to feel overwhelm but try your best to learn what you can, trust and rely on your teammates, Google and Youtube is your best friends to get a understanding of the problems that you are facing, and don’t sound nervous when you present even though you are nervous on the inside.
