Hi, I'm Mazen Abdelaziz, a New Yorker with Egyptian roots. Currently, I'm a senior Economics major at Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. What was your role?

Prepared Individual Goal Stores for partnerships. Designed the prototype for the Landing Pages. Lead weekly projects and remained as a point of contact for team members. Met with potential Unadat partners.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
Ive learned a valuable lesson on what it means to be a team and how loyalty and personal accountability trumps trying to be blameless. Collaborating with my teammates taught me more about the spectrum of skills and habits that come with each individual, and how to use our best qualities to complete a task. Working with this group has also taught me the meaning and value of communication, that being active in the group is infinitely more valuable than being out of the loop.
What skills have you gained?
Ive picked up better communication and teamwork skills through this internship. Additionally, Ive improved on my problem-solving, time management, and adaptability skills. I also picked up some additional leadership and brand new design skills. Using new software and being able to complete a project within the first week was exciting. As well as leading the effort in that design process and teaching teammates about the steps I took and how I figured it out.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The combination of picking up new responsibilities because of Ramadan and the onslaught of midterms and quizzes from my university made for a particularly challenging roadblock for several weeks. I was forced to come up with ways to manage my time more effectively without compromising my health and sleep. Dedicating specific hours for specific goals as well as having a concrete way of achieving those goals allowed me to overcome these roadblocks and have successful sprints.
How has company culture guided your work?
Unadats culture allowed me to take on various projects and volunteer for additional tasks that interested me. Weekly meetings helped me understand the ability of my peers better and narrow down where I can be the most helpful. I really appreciated always having someone available for questions or concerns, as it made completing my projects seem more manageable.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
What advice would you give to future interns?
Future Unadat interns, use your team to your advantage, youll have your time to shine so dont be afraid to ask for help. Treat this internship as a team project and not an individual competition and it will be so much more enjoyable!
