I am a junior at Queens College, studying Computer Science with a focus on Full Stack Development and a keen interest in data engineering. I am excited to further develop my skills this summer as a Full Stack Developer at Classlink. Although my professional experience in data engineering is just beginning, I am eager to dive deeper into this area. Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing basketball and League of Legends, activities that sharpen my strategic thinking and collaboration skills.

What was your role?

1) Calendar Integration for Milestone Management Led the integration of a dynamic calendar on the milestones tracking page, enabling users to visually manage their project deadlines and deliverables. Enhanced user engagement through intuitive navigation and interactive elements, facilitating a better planning experience. 2) Development of Supporter Milestones Display Spearheaded the development of a new feature to visually represent supporter milestones, making it easier for users to track engagements within their network. Collaborated with design teams to ensure the feature was both functional and visually appealing, enhancing user satisfaction. 3) Automation of Task and Challenge Status Updates Developed automated systems to manage and update task statuses daily, weekly, monthly, and annually, ensuring accurate task tracking. Implemented an automatic challenge status update feature, which significantly reduced manual oversight and improved operational efficiency. 4) Revamp of Individual Goal Visualization Designed a comprehensive view for users to manage individual goals with detailed milestones, improving the goal-setting process. Incorporated user feedback to refine visualization elements, leading to a more personalized and effective goal management tool. 5) Optimization of Milestone Prioritization Redesigned the user interface to prioritize milestones based on urgency and completion, helping users focus on critical tasks. Introduced adaptive displays that tailor visibility of milestones based on user progress, enhancing the personalization of the platform.

Working alongside my hardworking teammates at Unadat has taught me the importance of perseverance and focus in achieving results. Ive learned that with a dedicated team, even the most challenging projects can be tackled efficiently, and high standards of quality can be maintained.

What skills have you gained?

During my internship at Unadat, I significantly expanded my technical skill set. I developed proficiency in several programming languages and technologies, including PHP, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, and AJAX. These skills were honed through hands-on experience in building dynamic web applications, managing databases, and enhancing user interfaces. The projects I worked on allowed me to apply these technologies in real-world scenarios, improving both my coding abilities and my understanding of how different layers of web development integrate to create seamless user experiences. This diverse technical foundation has prepared me for a wide range of challenges in software development.

What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?

One of the biggest roadblocks I overcame during my internship at Unadat was learning how to effectively integrate and build upon another developers code. Initially, I struggled with understanding the coding style and logic used by others, which made collaboration challenging. To address this, I took the initiative to thoroughly review the existing codebase, ask targeted questions to my colleagues to clarify their methods, and regularly engage in pair programming sessions. These strategies not only improved my ability to work with legacy code but also enhanced my communication and teamwork skills. Overcoming this obstacle has taught me the importance of adaptability and patience in a collaborative development environment.
