What was your role?

Optimized development environment for all dev teams, decreasing time spent waiting for deployment from ~75 seconds to <2 seconds. Broke down abstract product requirements into detailed sub-tickets for the product-dev team. UI and backend logic for Challenges, Milestones, and Goals

What did you work on?

Cloud shell deployment time decrease and backend improvments for Unadat site pages, challenges, milestones and goals

What was the impact of your project?
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
I learned how to communicate. I had a hard time expressing my thoughts well but since we had teams discussions weekly, I picked up on the different ways my team has communicated and implimented that into my own discussions
What skills have you gained?
I improved my ability to allocate time to projects accurately. I also improved my ability to familiarize myself with an established codebase quickly.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The biggest roadblock I have encountered was implementing features into an established codebase. I gradually got more efficient at familiarizing myself with relevant parts of the code. I learned how to contribute to a large project without understanding how every single component worked.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company culture inspired me to strive for 60/40. Unadats mission steered my decision making throughout the UI development process.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
What advice would you give to future interns?
My advice to the next crop of interns is to be as social, friendly, and positive as you can be with your fellow interns. Maintaining communication saves time and prevents stupid mistakes. Also, to look for and ask about established practices within the codebase. Certain functionalities all work using a specific method or component.
