What was your role?

I am the only person on my team as of now. However, I stay with the app team when I have to go to work. They get to see my progress and I see their progress as well. What I do is try to make a “dark mode” for the Unadat Website and app.

What did you work on?

I am working on a dark mode for the site.

What was the impact of your project?
The impact of my project is to have it work so that I could have it as a reference for later jobs. Also for those who like working with dark modes for anything I think it would be nice especially for financial reasons.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
I have more experience in Java, PHP, and jquery. By having this hands-on experience I get to figure out what will go wrong on projects I will work on soon. Also, my public speaking has improved thanks to the “Team Updates”..What I have learned from my teammates is that if I need to run something by them it's easy enough to do. Learning some of the inner workings of making an app even though I have no real input is fascinating to see.
What skills have you gained?
I have more experience in Java, PHP, and jquery. By having this hands-on experience I get to figure out what will go wrong on projects I will work on soon. Also, my public speaking has improved thanks to the “Team Updates”.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The biggest roadblock I had to overcome was in the earlier stages of the dark mode I was using Bootstrap and what would happen is that the way that the website is set up things would go in the right places and make the website feel bigger than what it was. So I had to move to jquery to make the website go “dark mode” and it has worked out fantastically.
How has company culture guided your work?
It taught me that everyone had a voice. Also, because of the peer updates, I have been gradually getting better at public speaking. Working on my own has also shown me that when my mind is up for the challenge I do it.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
The biggest project I’m working on is the dark mode. There are many ways to do dark modes for websites/apps and trying to come up with a solution for the PHP was difficult. However, after finding out how to do so and looking at all the “classes” the website has it became easier.
What advice would you give to future interns?
My advice is that if you have issues don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you have any design ideas let Sean and Dean know.
