What was your role?

I was part of the Architecture team and was mainly responsible with making sure that everything was properly being presented to the user. I made sure that the correct data was being sent from the client side to the server side as well as transforming parts of the website to be dynamic depending on the user’s preferences. I also assisted others with resolving their tickets and fixed any bugs that were discovered by the beta testers and the development process.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
My teammates always had my back whenever any issues would arise. There was never a time when I felt that I was working alone on a task I was assigned, as Unadat places great emphasis on teamwork. Our standup meetings were perfect for ensuring proper teamwork etiquette.
What skills have you gained?
After finishing my internship at Unadat, I`ve learned many technologies that will contribute to my career. I was able to gain industry experience with various programming languages and databases. Having contributed to both frontend and backend in the codebase, I gained a better understanding of how they communicate with each other.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
I came into this internship having brief knowledge of Git version control and took up the task of merging my team`s codebases together. At first, I had trouble figuring out where to start, as some of my other coworkers had no experience with Git. However, my teammate for another ticket at the time, Gael, helped me experiment with Git. After some trial and errors, we were able to confidently learn the process of merging codebases and resolved the task.
How has company culture guided your work?
From the first week of interning at Unadat, I learned that Unadat is not afraid of experimenting and trying new things. It ultimately helped me in settling into the first software development task that I was assigned and jumpstarted my contributions to the codebase.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
What advice would you give to future interns?
As my manager once said, "Don`t be afraid to break things". You learn best when overcoming challenges.
