What was your role?

Implemented the backend for a credit score metric and displayed it on the tickers on the dashboard, extended the list of goals for a user, allowed users to see a supporters new goals and created share links for the new goals, and developed an interface for the goal recommendation system.

What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?

To get a brief overview of each other`s tasks and to keep updated if the tasks are similar. It can be pretty often a member of another team needs help.

What skills have you gained?

PHP I`ve never learned and JS I rarely use so those are good, apart from that communicating with team members and delegating tasks

What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?

Fetching supporter goals. There was an existing bug with supporters I couldn`t fix and I had no idea where to even start with that task initially because I kept viewing it from a higher order perspective, in a way, but eventually I temporarily gave up on trying to "solve" it and instead just looked at how some of the existing code worked since it was very different to what I`ve done before, set up a way to test it, and focused on one small part of the task at a time.

How has company culture guided your work?

It led to more communication between me and my teammates, even when the communication in question didn`t actually have to do with my work itself but rather how it relates to other people`s work.

What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?

What advice would you give to future interns?

Get a grasp on git commands, how to merge, push, pull properly and creating remote branches. And let your team members know when you`re starting a task, finished with a task, and what parts of the task you`d like to delegate to yourself and others.
