What was your role?

I was a part of Team Barbie - Video! For the six weeks it was a work in progress to finally achieve the final video for the last week. I particularly helped with writing the script, engage in discussions with my group: Arielle, Julie, and Sidney where we come up with plans about what works and what doesn’t for our video. We did a lot of team bonding which was nice. A lot of the time I was just tweaking the script here and there looking for ways to improve it. Then after creating the script, I helped with filming at Roosevelt island. Putting all clips together in Google drive and organizing respective folders. Then I moved on to finding background audio for our video. At first I think I was being too hard on myself trying to find specific websites for “business” type music, only to realize that YouTube was the key instead.

What did you work on?

What was the impact of your project?
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
My teammates taught me how important communication and group work is. Although we had our independent work, I enjoyed collaborating together through our discord calls because we exchange better ideas between each other. I also learned that there was no reason for me to feel any tension or pressure to be over professional in front of them. We were laid back and as long as we communicated and understood what tasks we had to complete, all was good.
What skills have you gained?
Some new skills that I learned from Unadat is getting to know your teammates and coworkers. It really makes a difference on how I moved going forward: comfortable yet productive. I also learned the importance of researching and branching out to exploring new templates to create projects. I never knew beforehand that I could create a storyboard, the usefulness of Canva, and experimenting with AI for the first time. I learned so much about the different types of resources I could use to collaborate and make projects more fun and interesting. (Not sure if this is 50 words, im on mobile and can’t see word count).
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
The biggest roadblock I’ve encountered was how to even start a script for the video. The beginning was the most challenging of it all because at first it just felt like doing something with no direction. But I overcame it by just letting my creativity speak for itself. I just created what I believed makes a script for a video— and it was lengthy. Ultimately my team liked one of the scripts I wrote and we adjusted moving forward by combining different aspects from all of our drafted scripts.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company culture guided my work by being really supportive and giving their opinion on how to adjust. Everyone was really cool and friendly towards one another. Learning from the other teams and what they’re doing also helped with inspiration on my work.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
What advice would you give to future interns?
Omg. My advice? Just to take every time to meet with your teammates and collaborate. Getting to know each other and working on projects together, especially virtually, is in a way, easier. It’s fun to just joke around and find a common ground with each other but still understand the work and the deadlines that have to be made.
