What was your role?

During my time at Unadat, I was part of the CS team. I contributed to various projects, one of which involved improving the financial wellness score. I worked on redesigning the interface, fixing the currency system throughout the website, also making changes to the pop-up donation tab.

What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?

I was able learn a lot from my teammate. One of the teammates, I was really grateful to work with for 4 weeks was Leon. He worked together really well and helped each other when we needed help. Just like me, he also loves coding making my connection with him even stronger.

What skills have you gained?

During this internship, I picked up some valuable new skills, especially in coding and debugging. I got hands on with SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and PHP, which were pretty unfamiliar to me before. Now I`m way more comfortable with them, and that`s helping me become a better coder overall. Also, it was cool because I hadn`t used Google Cloud before, so that was a neat experience. Plus, I learned how to work as part of a team, which I hadn`t really done much before. Now I know how to divide tasks and collaborate effectively.

What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?

One of the significant roadblocks I managed to overcome was pushing my code into a branch. I faced quite a bit of struggle while attempting to push my code into the branch, and a few times my code disappeared or didn`t show up properly. What helped me conquer this challenge was collaborating with the team to refine our changes and ensuring that our code flows when we merge all of our code together.

How has company culture guided your work?

Unadat was all about guiding my work and helping me improve overall as a person. I was able to learn new technical skills and improve my communication abilities. This internship made me love computer science even more. The projects I worked on were really fun to do and helped me become even better at coding.

What advice would you give to future interns?

My advice to the next interns is to try your best to gain as much knowledge as you can because everything I learned was super helpful in the real world.
