What was your role?

My role during the internship was to be a part of the design team and come up with ideas for the website and sometimes the app development. I was a part of the design team where I gave my suggestions for ideas and designs.

What did you work on?

I worked on the design team. The design team collaborated with the mortgage and occasionally the app team to come up with ideas for the website. The design team would come up with an example and the other team would try their best to implement our ideas.

What was the impact of your project?
The impact of our project hopefully is that some of the ideas make it to the website for user to see. They can interact and appreciate the time and effort it took to make a lovely design.
What did you learn or improve on from this internship or from your teammates?
During this internship, I have improved and learned a few things. One of those things is punctuality because that is an important factor anywhere. One factor I improved on was my communication skills. Some new skills I developed were mostly design-related. One of the skills was the cast over a picture that may make your words more legible to the viewer. Another skill I developed was learning how to change the wording on a site by going to inspect and changing some things around. I have also learned a few things from my teammates. One thing I did learn is that for everything to move smoothly the whole group has to be on the same page. There is no way that the group can function properly if everyone isn't on the same page and someone is lost. We have to have eachothers backs and help when the other person needs assistance.
What skills have you gained?
Some new skills I developed were mostly design related. One of the skills was the cast over a picture that may make your words more legible to the viewer. Another skill I developed was learning how to change the wording on a site by going to inspect and changing some things around.
What was the biggest roadblock you've overcome?
One of the biggest roadblocks that I have overcome is my shyness, specifically my fear of public speaking. Since I was younger I hated presenting and speaking in front of large groups of people. I surprised myself by actually presenting and speaking up when something was on my mind. I didn't think I would in a million years.
How has company culture guided your work?
The company's culture has guided my work by making me feel like I have more creative freedom. Most of the time companies are used to a certain look and way of doing things which means that they aren't open to change and evolving. This company is the opposite because they want feedback and suggestions to better themselves.
What was your experience at Unadat?
What was one big project you worked on during the internship? Can you walk me through the process?
One big project I worked on for the internship was the landing pages. That was a little challenging for me. We had to reconfigure the pages so that they looked more appealing. Most of the information that was on the page was fillers. So we were kinda working on a blank slate. We started by stripping the page and creating a few 60/40 examples. From there we started making 70/30 examples. Then we finalized the wording and the looks of what we had envisioned. Sometimes we didn't know how to improve the information and other times it was hard to find the proper background.
What advice would you give to future interns?
My advice for the next batch of interns is to just keep an open mind and be ready to learn. If you show up with a negative mindset and expect for everything to be fine and dandy that won't happen. Instead, just show up ready to try new things and be punctual.
